OK all you meanies out there that used to tease
certain people in our family about being freaks.
(You know who you are!) So not everyone was born with incredible tongue sticking out talents. But NOW we do! Jessica, and I went to Dr.
Otteson (Thanks!) last week and he clipped the fiber and muscle under our tongues that was keeping us tongue tied. Now not only can we talk a mile a minute (ha ha mom), but we can stick our tongues out with no problems at all. Dinner was so much fun. Everyone in our family was sticking their tongues out at each other. (Jeffrey is the one who is a freak. He can almost touch his nose with his freakishly long tongue. And it's weird and pointy!)
I was afraid it was going to hurt, but Jessica went first and she said it was OK. She was right. It didn't hurt, except the shot. It's sore now, but it is supposed to get better. Now my dad wants to do it! My dad says now I have no excuses for taking too fast and tripping over my words. We'll see if I can keep it under control.

For the record: I, Jessica Bassett, was in no way insecure about my retarded tongue. I took the teasing and mocking with pride. I guess my parents were just more embarassed about having a freak daughter then I was self-conscious about it. They forced me against my will to go to the appointment. Once there I had no choice but to give in.
i'm tongue tied too! but, i have no problem blabbering with the best of them! in that picture amanda looks just like president bassett and jess looks just like sister bassett! genetics works! okay, so for the record, my favorite conference talk of the day was elder wirthlin's, but weren't they all great! the twins only sat through one talk, the prophets! hugz!
Jessica, let me tell you about freak tongues... no, better yet, I should send you a post of me and my sis-in-law, Amanda last year comparing... OH MY! Well, you know b/c you have seen mine... your mom makes me stick it out for anyone who hasn't seen it!!! Maybe she has a secret tongue obsession!!! :) I love that we are all created different... what would we tease each other about??? Good job being brave!!
